Some of you may be wondering why you might get involved with the state level of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Here are a few of the great benefits of the membership (that go beyond giving you access to joining our local membership):

1. During business hours you can call and consult with a lawyer for free! Yes, a lawyer, who has specialized training in the issues that impact LMFT, MFTI, LCSW, ACSW, Psychologists, and others.

2. Access to EbscoHost a full text article retrieval service. It gives you access to tens of thousands of behavioral health related journals that you can access when developing presentations, or researching options for working with clients.

3. Statewide listserve. You can connect in with professionals all over the state to discuss issues related to your profession, as well as do very limited marketing (one notice) of events or trainings.

4. The Therapist magazine is a fun publication of clinical perspectives as well as laws and regulations that impact therapists.

These are just a few of the great resources available to you as a state member of CAMFT. And yes, you must be a member at the state level to be a member at the local level. And no, membership at the state level does not automatically include a local level membership, we have separate dues (which are much cheaper than most of the chapters from larger areas).
